Ernie Ball Announces New M-Steel Electric Guitar Strings For 2013

Ernie Ball, one of the leading manufacturers of strings and musical instrument accessories, has announced today, another breakthrough in the world of string innovation and design. The company announced the development of M-Steel electric guitar strings; the new patent-pending premium line of guitar strings made from a defense grade alloy known as Maraging Steel.

Ernie Ball, who changed the game with their Slinkys guitar string design, is once again revolutionizing the industry with their innovative M-Steel electric guitar strings. Officially launching in late January 2013, the new Ernie Ball M-Steel Slinkys will hit the shelves in mid-summer 2013 and will be available in five popular Slinkys gauges: Super, Regular, Hybrid, Power and Skinny Top Heavy Bottom. The progressive innovation leads a host of new and exciting products that Ernie Ball is set to launch at the 2013 Winter NAMM Show.

"M-Steel is a landmark innovation for Ernie Ball and the string industry as a whole,” says Brian Ball of Ernie Ball Inc..

The company’s latest Slinkys model uses a defense grade alloy, maraging steel, to provide increased strength and durability compared to traditional guitar string wire and has been specifically developed to provide a more break resistant string.

"String Breakage has been a common problem for guitarists,” Ball adds.  “With M-Steel, we've developed a new alloy that significantly improves the strength of plain strings and core wire for wrapped strings."

In addition, M-Steel strings are proven to have increased tensile strength while maintaining additional output, increased clarity and fatigue resistance. The wound strings are comprised of a patented Cobalt alloy wrapped around maraging steel hex core wire. M-Steel plain strings feature a patented winding of Cobalt around the ball end of the string which reduces slippage, breakage and stays in tune better than conventional plain strings.

With M-Steel, Ernie Ball seeks to provide guitarists with a set of strings that can handle greater abuse while providing the most technologically advanced set of strings for supreme tone and playability.
